SEO Forums

Forums are a great place to both learn about SEO and to get help with specific problems.

Novices shouldn't be shy of posting, as many members welcome the chance to both help, and show off their knowledge, do a site search first though as quite often there are past threads that have already covered your question.

Unfortunately for some forums a lot of the more experienced membership has moved over to SEO blogs, and as each forum tends to have a different "feel", it's worth looking around them all.

Forums in English

  • Webmaster World - the only 24/7 forum, can be somewhat theoretical and appear over-moderated but really keeps its finger on the pulse especially with Google, a personal favourite.

  • High Rankings Forum - friendly and not too theoretical, from Jill Whalen.

  • Search Engine Forum - the original of the species, serious, and can appear daunting for the novice, used to have a particular penchant for the PPC sector.

  • Search Engine Watch - can be excellent but suffers from many experienced members moving over to blogs.

  • Web Pro World - quite good though nothing outstanding.

  • Cre8asite - a bit quiet but friendly and with some excellent members.

  • SE Roundtable - quite a new forum from Barry Schwartz, don't recognise many members but it looks promising.

  • I Help You - home of the "White Hat" Ultras so tends to be quite judgmental.

  • Irish Webmaster Forum - not particularly busy but it's all we have.

European Forums

For those who can it's interesting to read what's happening in the non-English world, here's some established European SEO forums:

The one rule common to all these SEO forums is the one on self-promotion particularly Url-drops, they take this seriously so any Url if not your whole post will be snipped, and if you continue may well find yourself barred from further posting.

And another word of warning, once introduced to them SEO forums can become quite addictive!
